SmackDown LIVE: February 12, 2019
Okay here we are - SmackDown LIVE after poor Becky Lynch has been suspended. I do have to say I was expecting her to come out and when she didn't I was very upset.
Here is the fast recap:
Charlotte Flair thinks she is great and everyone boos her, Women's Tag Team for Elimination Chamber and the girls with the glow in the dark entrance won so that's cool, a weird show with an old guy and the Usos happened but was pointless, and then one of the pancake people wrestled a bunch of other people but still lost and ran out of time so Randy Orton ran out and won. Oh and Daniel Bryan is a genius. The end.
Overall, this wasn't my favorite SmackDown because it didn't have any Becky Lynch and not enough Daniel Bryan. You can't always hit it out of the park I guess.
Charlotte Flair
What can I say, I'm not a fan of this lady. I am reminded by my husband that is the whole point but still I think she could work harder to be a little more entertaining. Right now there is a lot of pointing at the WrestleMania sign which I guess must be a thing. It isn't super exciting as a viewer but there must be some sort of history that I don't know being new at this. So...she pointed at the sign a few times and then made condescending comments about Becky and all the other female wrestlers. I'm just glad this didn't last too long because she is weird. Can we get Becky back yet?
Women's Tag Team
I don't want to be mean here. I want to be all Girl Power and say this was a really exciting match up but I just don't enjoy any of the SmackDown tag teams. They are either weirdly gimmicky or just too basic to be interesting. I do have to say that Naomi is an incredible athlete and does a lot of fun splits and flips and stuff so good on her. She also glows in the dark so that's exciting. I feel like I can't really do justice to this segment because I was kind of bored. I'm sure it was super exciting and stuff, just not my favorite folks. RAW has better characters in this so I'm kind of out.
McMiz Show
This is annoying and I very much dislike both of these men. Like I think I would not be friends with them in real life. Miz has a reality show that he always tries to encourage me to watch (I won't) and then they try to make that McMahon guy seem cool but I also am not buying it. He looks like a stay at home dad that thinks he is cool. He isn't, he has dorky shoes, and his dance moves, while impressive, are at weird times. I don't know, I hope they lose soon so I can forget all about them. The Usos were their guests which you know this won't go well. I don't understand why they even suggest things like this but then my husband reminds me this is a scripted show and so they do it on purpose. Whatever. The Usos are very nice men but their whole thing is about going to the penitentiary. I don't understand why sending people to prison is a catch phrase. Like, is there no due process here? I wish they had a better line because they are entertaining and have a nice look to them. Maybe they will win those belt things back and can adjust their sayings better. Who knows. They end up kicking the Mc and Miz people in the face so they are my favorite. Way to go, boys!
Daniel Bryan & Kofi
Okay, so I'm not sure why they are pushing this Kofi guy on me. The pancake guys, or I guess the real name is New Day, are not my favorite. If you are a grown man, throwing pancakes at people, with pigtails, and pants with your face on them I do not believe that you can beat Daniel Bryan. There I said it. Apparently WWE does not agree. Ugh whatever, so the entire show was pretty much about this guy and how amazing he is. Boo.
Back to my recap. Daniel was phenomenal (yes that's right I'm stealing AJ's saying) and he had a very nice angry rant to start us off. He is great. So then he has to fight pigtails. His big friend gets sent away and so do the other pancake guys so at least I could watch Daniel and pigtails without them. I am still unclear why the refs even allow these little friends to be on the sides. Like you don't know they are going to cheat? Ugh, they need to really reconsider the rules on that one. After a way too long of a match with a lot of jumping off ropes and kicks and stuff he apparently loses. So long story short, pigtails wins and it is weird.
Jeff Hardy & Pigtails
So then Jeff Hardy runs out and this is the point that I got rally confused and my husband had to pause the show and explain this is a "Gauntlet" which means they all fight and then whoever is the last guy wins the last spot in the Elimination Chamber. I am now super pissed off because why would you make the Champion go first? Daniel Bryan should just automatically go last but this isn't normal world this is WWE and they like to bug me.
Alright, so then Jeff Hardy comes out and he loses. I mean there was a lot of wrestling and pigtails did a lot of great moves and stuff but I was talking the whole time about how Daniel got hosed so I don't know what happened. I just know pigtails won and people are freaking out.
Samoa Joe & Pigtails
I do not enjoy Samoa Joe. Like at all. Dude bugs me and doesn't follow the rules so when he comes out I say he is going to lose and then cheat. So that is what happened. Joe loses, gets angry, and then does some sort of weird annoying move that hurts pigtails. Apparently the ref is powerless and just stands there being all "oh Joe please no, please stop". Work harder dude! So then more refs come out and stand around while pigtails is getting choked to death and it is annoying. Then of course good guy AJ Styles runs out and kicks Joe off. So dramatic. Just as much as I think they are pushing pigtails on me I think they are pushing AJ to be some sort of good guy. It is weird, he needs a haircut.
AJ Styles & Pigtails
AJ starts out being all "oh I won't fight you" and pigtails yells and stuff and so then they start fighting. Pigtails loses. So then AJ is all nice guy waiting for Randy Orton to come out (which by the way music is AWESOME!). I am getting tired and am all "wait we only have like 1 minute, how is this going to..."
Randy Orton & AJ Styles
So Randy runs out from the opposite side of the stage and knocks AJ out and the show ends. I guess Randy won so he will come out last. That is good, he is one of my favorites because he is quiet and cool. So okay. End show I guess?
So overall this was all the Pigtails show. Everyone on Twitter is all excited about him. Whatever. My issue with the pancake guys is probably from being a mother. Don't throw your food, don't make a giant mess, and seriously who is making you all of these pancakes? They just throw them all over and don't even care that they are making a mess. People stand on them and squish them and it just is not okay anymore. Can they come up with a less messy thing? I'm not looking forward to pancake people being at the Elimination Chamber. They just are not my people. I'm sure they fill some sort of need for others. Fun? Mess? Bright colors? Pigtails? I don't get it, but to each their own.
